In a few words, I’m here. Thanks to all who convinced me. The above late 19th century “Falls of Eternal Despair” (author unknown, d. 1895) caught my interest the moment I laid my eyes on it. The landscaped stories that weave through the geography are fascinating. Troubling.
Thanks for coming through…

Thanks Heather!
I can’t get this poster out of my mind. What originally attracted me was the cleft between the ‘impenetrable hedge of sin’ and ‘holiness heights’ when I was working on my 2nd chapter (The B.C. Alberta Interprovincial Boundary Commission and the mapping of passes that consumed all their time). There are numerous evangelical-type ministrations that use landscapes like the above to power home the message that you better shape up….
Thanks for checking out my blog–I’m sold on the idea. For now.
Seems you’re pretty busy these days, eh?

I’m glad to see you’ve got your blog up and running. I’ve just added a link to your site on my blog. I look forward to following this one and seeing where you take it. Good luck and have fun. Thanks again for coming out to the workshop last month.

Hi Lauren,
Yeah, I have never considered the Dantesque angle. I can’t get this poster out of my mind. What originally attracted me was the cleft between the ‘impenetrable hedge of sin’ and ‘holiness heights’ when I was working on my 2nd chapter (The B.C. Thanks for convincing me to try out the blog thing. I’m sold on the idea. For now.
